“Y” Strainers take their name from their configuration. They are most commonly used in pressurized lines, gas or liquid, but can also be used in suction or vacuum conditions. They are intended for applications where small amounts of solid particulate are expected, and where clean-out will be infrequent. If solids will flush easily from the screen, and fluid can be exhausted to atmosphere, a blow-down valve on the drain port will allow clean-out without removal of the screen, and without interrupting the process flow.

Strainer from an absolutely essential part of the Pipeline Systems and we recommends use of our Strainers installed before our Shut- Off valves to enable increased efficiency, leak tightness and protection of Control valves. Installation of Strainers increases the life of Shut-Off valves by preventing ingress of unwanted foreign particles in the main shut-off valves & Control valves.

ALFA Duplex Basket Strainers are an innovative and economical alternative to conventional Duplex Basket Strainers. They are designed for applications where flow cannot be shut down to service the strainer screen. Changeover is accomplished by use of a hand wheel operator butterfly valve or Ball Valve. This arrangement provides a bubble-tight shut off between basket chambers, essential for use in gas or negative head pump suction systems. Basket and flange sizes can be designed to specific requirements by incorporating ALFA Fabricated Strainers. Carbon or Stainless Steel with 150# ANSI flanged connections. Many other options are available including higher pressure ratings, automatic air vents, quick opening covers, special internal coatings, backwash connections and more.
